Master Chief Is Back in the Stunning New Halo Infinite Trailer

At E3, Microsoft confirmed officially previous reports that there will be a successor to the current Xbox One console.

Spencer announced that Microsoft is adding five game development studios to its Microsoft Studios family. Whether this is the sixth main series Halo game or an offshoot is yet to be known.

More exciting still, the next generation of Xbox consoles are already being worked on.

Microsoft has been working on game streaming technology for several years now.

The new game will focus strongly on Master Chief and the Halo universe itself, with its main focus being on 'making the world a little bit more realistic and compelling'.

Amid all of their game announcements, Microsoft let out some interesting tidbits about the future of Xbox during their E3 conference - and hinted at the possibility of multiple consoles being worked on. It recently scored its first original hit, both commercially and critically, with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and picking it up as an exclusive developer was a smart move by Microsoft.

The acquisitions and new studio will give Microsoft a deeper slate of games in years to come.

Microsoft purchased Ninja Theory (makers of Hellblade and Heavenly Sword), Forza Horizon developer Playground Games, Compulsion Games (creators of the upcoming We Happy Few) and State of Decay creator Undead Labs.

Microsoft officials said the company is building a new Santa Monica, Calif. -based studio which it's calling "The Initiative."

The game is being developed by 343 Industries in the new Slipstream Engine, which we don't know much about yet but it will undoubtedly be an improvement on past Halo engines. We've reached out to Microsoft for comment and will provide an update upon response. Perhaps even slightly humbled by the lessons it's had to learn this gen, it's stacking the deck for the next battle for gamers' hearts - and it's a battle it just might win.
