Scotland beat England for the first time in a one-day global

The six-run win saw Scotland get one over their arch-rivals in style.

Scotland enjoyed the greatest victory in their cricket history by holding their nerve to beat world number one-ranked England by six runs in a thrilling one-day global at Edinburgh on Sunday.

Calum MacLeod's superb 140 not out powered non-Test nation Scotland to a record 371 for five against an England side who are top of the one-day worldwide rankings. The good news for cricket fans in India is that they can catch Scotland vs Pakistan live on the Sportskeeda Cricket Facebook page.

England: Eoin Morgan (capt), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Sam Billings, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.

He said they had drawn additional inspiration from the involvement in their camp ahead of the match of Duncan Hodge, hero of the Scotland rugby team's Calcutta Cup win in 2000 when he scored all 19 of his side's win who is also a fine cricketer.

"I'm lost for words, I don't know what to say", Sharif told Sky Sports.

"It is up to us to build on it. Hodgey said for too long Scottish sport has been about close misses and this could have been one of those days. England are a brilliant side but scoring 371 against them means the world".

While England were suffering a surprise ODI defeat to Scotland in Edinburgh, or "Henning Berg" - former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers defender - according to Bumble's mispronunciation, attention turned to the upcoming Australia series and the hosts' preparation for the World Cup in a year's time.

Scotland's total was their highest at this level, surpassing their 341 for nine against fellow non-Test nation Canada at Christchurch four years ago.

For England, a "warm-up" fixture, ahead of a five-match ODI series against Australia starting at The Oval on Wednesday, had now become a huge challenge.
