Donald Trump fires back at Robert DeNiro: ‘Wake up, Punchy!’

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump slammed actor Robert De Niro on Twitter for his comments at an awards show Sunday night. I guess he doesn't realize the economy is the best it's ever been with employment being at an all time high, and many companies pouring back into our country.

FILE - This 1980 undated handout file photo shows Robert De Niro as Jake La Motta in a boxing scene from Martin Scorsese's film "Raging Bull".

The actor was bleeped when he used the F-word.

During the Tony Awards, De Niro, who has frequently sparred with Trump, drew a standing ovation with an anti-Trump rant. "It's no longer down with Trump, it's f-- Trump!"

Yesterday De Niro apologised - not for his comments but on behalf of the U.S. president.

This is not the first time Mr Trump has responded to a Hollywood star attacking him during a speech.

De Niro continued the streak for a third month in a row when he said in a speech in LA: 'A college education is important, but education without humanity is ignorance.

Of course, De Niro has made no secret of his hatred for Trump - he previously said "Trump's so blatantly stupid".

Ahead of the 2016 presidential election, De Niro said he'd like to "punch [Trump] in the face". While at a groundbreaking ceremony for a Canadian restaurant he was launching with celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa in Toronto Monday, June 10, the actor said: "I just want to make a note of apology for the idiotic behavior of my president".

"It's a disgrace. And I apologise to Justin Trudeau and the other people at the G7".
