Fans turn out in droves to celebrate Cup-champion Capitals

The parade and rally midway between the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument commemorated the first D.C. title in the major four professional sports since the Redskins in 1992 and the first Cup in the Capitals' 44-year history.

Fans along Constitution chanted, "Raise the Cup!" and "Ovi! Ovi!" The parade will end with a rally on the National Mall.

Ovechkin earned the Conn Smythe Trophy for the most valuable player in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs while Holtby went 16-7 in goal during the Caps' playoff run.

Barry Trotz says the Capitals are going to do it again, and T.J. Oshie led fans in a chant of "back-to-back" at the rally celebrating the Stanley Cup champions.


The parade will begin at 11 a.m.at Constitution Avenue and 17th Street Northwest by the Lincoln Memorial.

This isn't the first time Jallon and company have talked Capitals hockey. And it looks like they're bringing a special guest - the Stanley Cup.

There's no official word yet if the Capitals will pay a visit to the White House to celebrate their first Stanley Cup victory, or if the Triple Crown-winning horse Justify and his jockey Mike Smith, fresh off their Saturday win at the Belmont Stakes, will visit the White House.
