Post mortem due in Co Cork murder investigation

The couple were rushed to Cork University Hospital for treatment, however Mr Wilk was pronounced dead at around 5.30am.

Gardaí in Ballincollig, Co Cork, have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man aged in his 30s over the weekend.

Gardai responded to an incident at 3.17 am this morning and said they were on the scene within five minutes.

Mrs Wilk's injuries are not believed to be life threatening. O'Sullivan said the two children were in the care of social workers.

Another adult female (early 30s) was present in the house at the time that the incident took place, along with two children under six years of age.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place later on Sunday.

Gardai investigating the murder on Sunday said that after a technical examination of the BMW vehicle found in Iniskenny Ballinora, Waterfall, a firearm was recovered which will be sent for further tests.

A fundraising page has been opened to help the family following the attack and murder of Wilk.

They are appealing to anyone with information to contact them - in particular, drivers who may have dash cam footage and who travelled in the Maglin, Ballincollig, Ballinora and Waterfall areas between 2am and 5am yesterday morning. Wilk, also known as Nick, ran a garden maintenance business in the area and had lived in Ireland for a number of years.
