Salah makes World Cup headlines for Chechnya photo

Salah was photographed locking hands with Kadyrov at Egypt's Grozny, Russia, training camp on Sunday ahead of their World Cup opener against Uruguay later this week, for which he is a fitness doubt with a shoulder injury.

The Egyptian government, meanwhile, shows zero tolerance for political Islam and has for years been fighting an insurgency led by Islamic militants.

Mohamed Salah looks to be on course to make his return for Egypt in time for the beginning of the World Cup.

Salah sustained the injury in clash with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final in May 26th, casting a doubt over his hopes of leading the Egyptian challenge at Russian Federation 2018.

Egyptian National Team Manager Ihab Leheita also told press he hopes for Salah to play at the Urguay match, but a final decision has not been reached yet.

'He is doing (physiotherapy) sessions on his shoulder and working out in the gym, ' squad executive director Eihab Leheita said.

"I can not say what we're going to reach, but the players' ambitions are high and I hope we get a good result". "All I can say is that we hope he will play in this match".

However, Salah did some light running in Grozny on Monday, monitored by medical staff, as the other Egypt players took part in a group warm-up.

'We will not pressure Mohamed.

And though he looked to be out of the World Cup with his injury, picked up when he and Sergio Ramos both fell to ground in a grapple-like coming together, the former Chelsea man is thought possibly fit to start the opening game of Egypt's campaign, and even declared himself as "ready" recently.
