The REAL reason Antoine Griezmann deal hasn't been announced

Griezmann worked actively to bring Lemar to Atletico and is excited to play with him, sources said before the agreement was announced.

Multiple people within Antoine Griezmann's inner circle say they want him to stay at Atletico Madrid rather than join Barcelona next season, sources close to the forward told ESPN FC's Julien Laurens.

Griezmann, a target for Manchester United a year ago, has been linked with a move to Barcelona after a successful season that saw him score 29 goals in 49 games and pick up the Europa League title. Speaking in a press conference today, the Atlético Madrid striker said that he has come to a decision.

The 22-year-old is now at the World Cup with France, who are due to play their first game of the tournament on Saturday against Australia.

France begin their World Cup campaign against Australia June 16, before facing Peru (June 21) and Denmark (June 26).

Puig officially extended his contract with Barcelona and now has a release clause of €100 million, which should fend off any potential suitors for a while.

"It's not the time or the place".

According to Canal+ France, the Frenchman will reportedly announce this week that he is going to stay at Atletico instead of joining LaLiga rivals Barca.

The 18-year-old was a rumoured target of Tottenham, but the Catalan giants have ensured they'll hold on to one of their bright prospects for the coming years.
