What Kyrie Irving had to say about the most recent Celtics season

He could opt out of his deal and become a free agent after next season.

"I'm just excited to see what that looks like, really getting that experience with [Gordon Hayward] and seeing what other pieces we have going forward", the 26-year-old guard told Robb.

"For me, I don't think it's a basketball thing", Wade said, as quoted on NESN.

Kyrie Irving's future with the Boston Celtics isn't exactly cut-and-dry.

And it could have huge ramifications on the race to win a championship.

His performance in interviews is fun to watch, but now since Irving is a member of the Celtics his antics in the media can make you nervous.

Kyrie Irving remains non-committal on his future with the Celtics beyond his current contract, which could be up after this upcoming season.

Irving said his backup, Terry Rozier, proved he's an National Basketball Association starter but that "turns into an unbelievable dynamic" for Boston next season.

But we can't forget that we're now in the NBA's silly season, and things tend to get blown out of proportion this time of the year.

"I'm on the floor doing some running activities, but I'm not running on the treadmill or anything like that", Irving said. He is notoriously ambiguous and non-committal when talking with reporters, whether they're asking about his reasons for wanting out of Cleveland or his flat earth theories. From "Uncle Drew" promo tours to rumors of his departure to NY slated for 2019, Irving has now repeatedly said something without saying anything. "We all have come from being the best player, or one of them, at a certain time and place, and we want to showcase that". Is he worth a max deal that will pay him $200 million over five seasons?

During a press conference Tuesday, Irving put to rest the idea of him signing a contract extension with the Celtics this summer. That, or he and Ainge can chat about it during their next trip to Chipotle.

Irving recently spoke to the New York Times and when asked about his future with the Boston Celtics, he wasn't very clear.

Staying in the present, though, Irving raved about the "excitement" that comes with a reloaded Celtics squad next season.
