E3 2018: The Last of Us Part II Gets Gameplay Reveal

We've been teased with a breath taking reveal trailer of The Last Of Us Part 2, with Ellie killing it on a guitar, then teased again with the more elusive, mystery-surrounding trailer featuring *ahem* Ellie's mum.

Neither Sony nor Naughty Dog provided a release date for The Last of Us Part II.

The trailer opens on a makeshift dance hall, where the game's protagonist, a teenaged girl named Ellie, is watching people sway to the music. Additionally, The Last of Us composer Gustavo Santaolalla introduced the footage with a live performance of the theme.

Obviously, this is a bit of a departure from the last game, which saw you playing as Joel for a large portion of the game before briefly allowing you to take over as Ellie. "You're going to feel her physical, emotional, and mental state expressed through every facet of gameplay", Druckmann said. This particular snippet framed a stealthy creep-and-kill sequence as a flashback Ellie flashes through while she wrestles with her sense of identity during a community dance. "We've completely overhauled our engine, developed new combat mechanics, created a new analog stealth system, and revamped our animation system to fully express Ellie's desperation, resourcefulness, and unique agility".
