Sadio Mané hints at Liverpool exit amid interest from Real Madrid

Following the Champions League final, where the Senegal worldwide scored the Reds' equaliser, reports suggested he had agreed a move to Spain.

Mane did add the usual caveat that "you never know what will happen in the future", though this should not be confused as a hint over a possible move. "I want to win trophies, especially the Champions League", he told Salzburger Nachrichten.

Mane levelled the scores for Liverpool in the Champions League final but could not prevent his side slipping to a 3-1 defeat to Madrid in Kiev.

Mane, 26, joined the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League finalists in 2016 from Southampton for a reported €41m (R640m) transfer fee and has developed into one of their key members of the first XI. He along Salah and Firmino formed one of the most risky trios last season with Liverpool, beating MSN and BBC.

The Senegal global made 44 appearances for Jurgen Klopp's charges in all competitions this past season and scored 20 goals while providing nine assists.

"I also do not see myself as a superstar, but as part of a team that wants to achieve a lot in the World Cup".

However, if Real Madrid are interested in signing him then it will only be a matter of time before he will be fielding similar questions about his future. The defeat is ticked off.

Mané has more pressing matters on his mind right now, starting with Senegal's World Cup campaign which gets underway next Tuesday against Poland. "That's my whole focus".
