USA, Canada and Mexico to host football World Cup 2026

The U.S., Mexico, and Canada had submitted a joint bid to host the World Cup in 2026, when the tournament will expand from 32 teams to 48.

It marks the first time the World Cup will be held in more than one country since 2002, when South Korea and Japan shared hosting duties.

The majority of the 80 matches in the North American bid would be played in the United States, who hosted the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

On June 14 at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time (11:00 a.m. ET), teams from Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia will kick off the 2018 World Cup at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

"We're got a lot of players that aren't actually representing Canada and I think this people a very front-sight focus of-it's here".

Venues for the 2026 World Cup, which is slated to be the first WC to feature 48 teams, will be chosen from 23 stadiums that now exist or are already under construction.

Morocco FA president Fouzi Lekjaa said: "I would like to reaffirm the determination of my country, Morocco, to continue to work for football, to work for the youth and also to realise some day our dream to host the World Cup in Morocco".

There will also be significant costs associated with security for the event, but Tory said the city is counting on the partnerships with other governments to make that happen.

Tory pointed to the city's recent experience hosting the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games in 2015 and the Invictus Games in 2017 as blueprints for making the proper arrangements for the World Cup, though he expects the 2026 tournament to be narrower in scope than the Pan Am Games, given the tournament will be confined to a single principle venue, BMO Field, and a few smaller sites for practices. "MLS is growing a lot, so to have worldwide teams coming to the U.S.to see how we've grown as a country", USA midfielder Kellyn Acosta, 22, said in video from FC Dallas. Luis Rubiales was not present at the FIFA Congress in Moscow, the RFEF president instead in Krasnodar to deliver the news that Julen Lopetegui had been sacked as coach just two days before their opening game with Portugal.

According to U.S. Soccer, Canada and Mexico are each slated to host 10 matches, while the United States will host 60.

"I can only say that I'm absolutely disappointed that Vancouver won't be a part of the 2026 World Cup, given that I've spent the amount of time that I have in the sport, and what a great opportunity that would have been to see it in your own backyard", Bob Lenarduzzi told CKNW's The Jon McComb Show.

Here's what you need to know and what we're still waiting to find out. "If we could put the question of the province's support behind us, then we can make sure that we check all the other boxes and make it to the final 16".
