Magic Johnson Selects Moe Wagner for the Lakers

Former Michigan basketball star Moe Wagner made the bold decision to declare for the NBA draft, without an agent following the Wolverines NCAA tournament run.

"He might be the best pick-and-pop player in this draft, which is something the Lakers could definitely use", reporter Joey Ramirez said. I just can't stop smiling.

The Lakers are also rumored to be a potential landing spot for LeBron James, should he decide to leave Cleveland.

Pelinka, team president Magic Johnson, and head coach Luke Walton, all of whom assumed their current roles with the franchise within the past two years, have a vision for the franchise. "That dream is very, very far away when you're over there, so it's exciting to be here". We also feel like because of the DNA shift here and because of the energy around our young core and our cap flexibility, that players want to be here.

"He said, 'welcome to the Family.' That means a lot", Wagner said.

Wagner is already familiar with Staples Center after leading MI to two victories in the arena during the West Regional last March. Even after the trade with the Lakers, the Sixers still have two first round selections with the 10th and 26th picks, along with three second round selections with the 38th, 56th and 60th picks.

The 2018 draft marked the end of the Lakers' penance for the 2012 sign and trade in which they acquired Steve Nash.

Wagner averaged 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game and sot 39.4 percent from 3-point range as a junior. Knocks on his defense and wingspan put him in the second round, but the Lakers were impressed by his skill in their private workout. "We felt like with the two players that we selected tonight in the draft that we added shooting and guys that know how to play the game the right way".

"If you have success in any walk of life, you're going to face that", Pelinka said.
