Leinster's pool opponents revealed in 2019 Champions Cup draw

Leinster's pool opponents revealed in 2019 Champions Cup draw

Leinster battled their way 15-12 victory over Racing 92 in last season's final, with Isa Nacewa's 78th minute kick securing the victory infront of 52,000 spectators in Bilbao.

The Irish Pro14 champions have been drawn against Wasps, Toulouse and Bath, with 11 titles between the four sides.

"A semi final in last season's competition is something that we're all immensely proud of but equally just as disappointed that we didn't play to the best of our abilities on that afternoon in Dublin", said Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac.

Of the remaining pools, Pool 3 contains recent two-time champions Saracens alongside Glasgow Warriors, Cardiff Blues and Lyon.

European campaigns don't start much trickier than a pool stage match-up against the reigning champions but it's a challenge that excites Wasps director of rugby Dai Young.

Pool 2: Castres, Exeter, Munster, Gloucester.

The standout group in that competition sees Sale Sharks, Connacht, Bordeaux and Perpignan together, while Northampton are in with Clermont Auvergne and the Dragons, as well as Romanian side Timisoara Saracens.

Wasps came second to La Rochelle in Pool 1 last season while Bath Rugby failed to progress from a group that contained Scarlets and Toulon.

The first round of European games will take place on 12/13/14 October, with the final pool fixtures on 18/19/20 January 2019.

Pool 3: Saracens, Glasgow Warriors, Lyon, Cardiff Blues.

Pool 5: Montpellier, Newcastle Falcons, Edinburgh, Toulon.

Pool 2: Pau, Ospreys, Worcester, Stade Francais.

Pool 1: Northampton Saints, Clermont Auvergne, Dragons, Timisoara Saracens.
