Victor Moses says Super Eagles plan to score early against Iceland

The Leicester City striker, now on loan at CSKA Moscow, became the first Nigerian to score at two World Cups as the Super Eagles secured a crucial win over Iceland, who missed a penalty.

The African side will secure a spot in the knockout stage alongside Croatia if they beat Argentina.

"I was a bit nervous going into this match, but I must commend coach Gernot Rohr for accepting criticisms and changing tactics for this game", the former Bolton Wanderers icon told Supersport.

Obi Mikel was used as an attacking midfielder throughout Nigeria's qualifying campaign but a lacklustre showing in Kaliningrad on Saturday meant he was asked to drop into a more defensive role against Iceland.

In what may be Lionel Messi's last chance to win a World Cup, the Argentina national team is on the edge of the abyss.

If the Nigeria side that turned up for the second half is the one to face Argentina, a win will not be guaranteed.

Against the run of play, Iceland won a penalty but Gylfi Sigurdsson blew it in the 83rd minute. They would still require a win against Nigeria but this scenario allows the possibility of using Croatia's win over Iceland to sneak the team into the round of 16. They were torn apart by Croatia 3-0 in the second group game, adding nothing to the point they picked up against Iceland in their opener.

And yet heading into its final game in Group D, Argentina's 2018 World Cup remains nearly entirely in its own hands.

Iceland has to win vs. Croatia to have any chance.

Nigeria: They have to lose to Argentina in the last match to remain with three points from three games, while Argentina will go ahead with four points, hoping Iceland lose or draw their match.
