Brazil takes on Costa Rica

Brazil takes on Costa Rica

Brazil's forward Neymar (R) celebrates after scoring his team's second goal during the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup Group E football match between Brazil and Costa Rica at the Saint Petersburg Stadium in Saint Petersburg on June 22, 2018.

Brazil forward, Neymar Jr., has explained why he burst into tears after their 2-0 win over Costa Rica on Friday.

Neymar who kept troubling the Costa Rica backline throughout the game got his deserving goal after Philippe Coutinho's opener in the first minute of injury time.

Neymar, overcome by emotion on the whistle, covered his face with his hands as tears streamed down his cheeks. Tite said. "I´m limping now after the celebration. We were a bit over-excited".

Brazil captain Thiago Silva says he was "saddened" by Neymar's attitude during the second half of his country's win over Costa Rica.

After Brazil's Neymar took a spectacularly languid fall in the penalty area, social media users wasted no time in pointing out how unconvincing it was.

"He is resuming a process", Tite said. A Malayali girl is among the children who would accompany players with the ball for the Group E match to be staged at the St. Petersburg Stadium in Saint Petersburg. He is a human being, he needs time to reach his high standards again but before that there is a team that needs to be strong and not dependent on him.

Ramzan Kadyrov, the Kremlin-backed head of Russia´s southern Chechnya region, hosted a dinner in honour of Egypt´s football team and presented the Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah with an award, the Chechen leader´s press service said on Friday. "He deserved his goal, and I think we took a weight off the shoulders of all Brazilians".

In the 96th minute, the world's most expensive player, Neymar, netted his first goal of the 2018 World Cup and his side's second to secure a priceless result and ease pressure going into their final game.

There was more drama to come.

That was an apt reflection of how tense the match had been, with Costa Rica's flat-back five keeping Neymar on the periphery, as Johan Venegas and Cristian Gamboa man-marked him out of the game.

Neymar's frustration increased after the referee pointed to the spot before changing his mind after watching the replay of his clash with Giancarlo Gonzalez on the VAR system. Six yards out, he side-footed home.
