Newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky’s daughter suffers ‘severe burns’ after boat explodes in Greece

Natasha Kaplinksy and her family are recovering after a boat they were on exploded in flames, according to reports.

They were rescued by local fishermen, who helped them put out the blaze on the boat.

According to The Sun, several family members were onboard, including her eight-year-old daughter, Angelica - who is said to have suffered severe burns. Ms Kaplinsky and a man, thought to be the girl's grandad, suffered lighter wounds.

Angelica was initially treated for burns to her hands and face at Corfu General Hospital before she was flown to be treated in Britain on a private jet arranged through the family's travel insurance firm.

"They had obviously not been taking care of the boat as a service should have prevented the problems".

Kaplinsky and her husband are reported to have a holiday home on the Greek Island.

The family were reported to be making a good recovery but a spokesman declined to comment further when contacted by The Mail on Sunday.

The 45-year-old newsreader was also injured, with it thought to be a petrol leak that caused the incident.

Corfu Port Authority said separately: "Three people were injured after a fire on a boat".

Natasha's spokesperson confirmed her family's involvement in the explosion, revealing: "Natasha and her family were involved in an accident in Corfu".

Ms Kaplinsky's husband, Justin Bower, 45, and son Arlo, nine, as well as two other relatives, were also aboard the Plumbago Go.

She won the first ever series of Strictly with dance partner Brendan Cole, who quit the show earlier this year.
