George Clooney taken to hospital after motorcycle crash in Sardinia

Local daily La Nuova Sardegna says Clooney's injuries aren't serious, but that he was taken to the John Paul II hospital emergency room.

According to multiple reports from local Italian media, the 57-year-old actor was injured in Sardinia, where he is now filming the mini-series, Catch-22. A vehicle did not respect the right of way and hit him.

Clooney, 57, was riding the bike at Costa Corallina on the island of Sardinia when he was involved in a collision with a auto, according to Italy's TGR Rai Sardegna.

He was joined by wife Amal Clooney and it has been reported that the pair left the hospital together in a private auto.

Mr Clooney has been in Sardinia for several weeks for filming of a six-part series based on Heller's 1961 novel about the USAAF during the Second World War. Calls and emails to Clooney's spokesman weren't immediately returned.

Earlier that month George was seen driving around the island on a scooter with Amal clinging on tightly behind him.

The A-list couple are believed to have brought their parents to the island to help care for the children while George works.

In April, the legendary thespian announced he was cutting down his acting role in the Hulu production so he could focus on directing.

Clooney has a home with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal, on the Italian mainland, on Lake Como.

Italy is an important place for Amal and George.
