Prince Louis had a big day on Monday as family and close friends gathered for his royal christening.

Kate Middleton is wearing designer Alexander McQueen at the christening of her third child, Prince Louis.

The 11-week-old prince, whose full name is Louis Arthur Charles, was born on April 23 and is fifth in line to the British throne.

His eldest sibling Prince George, 4, clutched his dad Prince William's hand and had his trademark look of vague distaste on his face (god I love this kid) while sister Princess Charlotte, 3, looked mostly confused.

Earlier today, members of the royal family traveled to The Chapel Royal at St. James' Palace for Prince Louis' christening.

However, his great-grandmother the queen and her husband Prince Philip will not be among the guests, Kensington Palace said.

Built in 1536, St James Palace has a vast amount of history, having housed several royals throughout centuries since the reign of King Henry VIII.

The gown is a replica of the one made for Queen Victoria's first daughter, also named Victoria, in 1841.

There for the ceremony were Louis's grandfather the Prince of Wales, step-grandmother the Duchess of Cornwall and maternal grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton. Prince Louis's six godparents include a number of Will and Kate's close friends: Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, Lady Laura Meade, Mrs. Robert Carter (a.k.a. Hannah Gillingham), and Lucy Middleton.

The decision is understood not to have been taken on health grounds, and to have been mutually agreed by the Queen and the Cambridges some time ago.

Kate, dressed in an ivory dress and matching hat, and William were joined by William's father Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, along with younger brother Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, dressed in olive green.

The outfit was reminiscent of what the Duchess of Cambridge has worn to both Prince George and Princess Charlotte's christenings.
