Cardi B Files $15M Countersuit Against Ex-Manager

Cardi also claims Shaft attempted to tell her who she should and shouldn't date, affecting her romance with husband Offset, the father of her unborn first child.

Cardi B is counter suing her former manager Klenord "Shaft" Raphael for $15 million. Cardi B's agreement with WorldStar and KSR entitled Shaft to 20 percent of her gross income.

"This case arises out of the deceitful and disloyal conduct of a self-serving and controlling personal manager, Counter-Defendant Klenord "Shaft" Raphael and his entities through which he does business, WorldStar and KSR, who together, among other things, breached their contractual and fiduciary duties to Counter-Plaintiff Belcalis Almanzar, an immensely talented and trusting young artist", the court documents state.

In April, Cardi had a suit filed against her by Raphael, who claimed he'd helped to develop her talent and reputation only for her to turn her back on him when she reached the top of the music business.

In the month of June, Cardi B claimed that she married Offset in a secret wedding ceremony. The suit, which came weeks after her hit album Invasion of Privacy was released, is for $10 million.

In one instance, he said Offset contacted him late a year ago, saying he was a "snake" who had taken more than his fair share of Cardi B's earnings.

"Shaft and KSR/WorldStar controlled all the books and records relating to Ms. Almanzar's professional activities", the counterclaim reads. The lawsuit also alleged that Cardi B defamed Shaft in social media by accusing him of "robbing" her.

A representative for Cardi B was not immediately available for comment.

Cardi B is now one of the hottest hip-hop artists with the success of her smash hit "Bodak Yellow" previous year.

The counter-suit claims that Leonard put "barriers between [Cardi] and people close to her in an effort to maintain complete control over her" and dictated "who she should and should not see romantically".
