Federer handed No 1 test ranking by ICC after emulating Tendulkar

The world number one will take on either Juan Martin del Potro or Gilles Simon whose last-16 tie was suspended due to darkness on Monday with the Argentine fifth seed two sets to one ahead.

The Swiss great defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-0, 7-5, 6-4 in the fourth round of the Wimbledon 2018 on Monday.

"It's true it has been a while", Nadal said about his return to the last eight.

"[He has] this very calm aura that he brings on the court - that even if everything goes wrong, it still seems like everything is flawless and it's okay", said the 6-foot-4 Tsitsipas.

Djokovic then lost the No 1 status to Federer, before claiming it back, only to lose it to Nadal, before once more claiming it back.

But there was no stopping the Serb once he made it on to Court One as he romped to a 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 win to reach the quarter-finals for a 10th time.

Novak Djokovic reached the quarterfinals for the 10th time with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 win over Russia's Karen Khachanov. "Also at the same time try to treat it like another tennis match".

Nishikori is playing in his first Wimbledon quarter-final.

So, with two quarter-finals being played on Centre Court and two on Court One, something has got to give.

The 12th game went to deuce eight times, with Simon saving four set points, as Del Potro failed to take his chances, the worst when he put an easy volley over the baseline with the court wide open.

The Latvian player also reached the quarterfinals a year ago in her best Wimbledon showing, losing to eventual runner-up Venus Williams.

Rodina, who upset 10th-seeded Madison Keys in the previous round, broke back for 3-2 in the second set but was broken to love straight away.

Nadal, like Federer yet to drop a set, routed world number 93 Vesely on the eve of the Czech player's 25th birthday. Del Potro leads Simon 7-6 (1), 7-6 (5), 5-7, 0-0.

While Williams boasts 23 major championships, the remaining seven women have combined for just three: Angelique Kerber has won two (2016 Australian Open and 2016 U.S. Open) and Jelena Ostapenko one (2017 French Open).

He has also won both their meetings on grass, including at Wimbledon in 2011.

The 36-year-old is more renowned for defending tennis titles than forward defences, but this dexterous left-handed shot displayed his innate sporting talent. Facing Roger again [would] be something fantastic. "Maybe you should ask the questions over in Russian Federation, how they're going to feel about Wimbledon being played at the same time", Federer was quoted as saying by AFP. "It's about being smart, no?"

The win also allowed Isner, the highest-ranked USA man, to have something about Wimbledon to relish other than his victory in the longest match in tennis history: 70-68 in the fifth set against Nicolas Mahut after 11 hours spread over three days in 2010.

It won't be pretty. When she served for it a second time, she needed to navigate a 16-point game that included five deuces and all of those match points, until forcing a forehand error on the last.
