Riyad Mahrez to join Manchester City from Leicester this week for £60m

Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez is slated to have a Manchester City medical this week.

Riyad Mahrez looks on during the friendly match of preparation for Federation Internationale de Football Association 2018 World Cup between Portugal and Algeria at the Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica on June 7, 2018.

Signing James Maddison, 21, from Norwich City triggered Leicester's willingness to enter into talks with City with the likely fee for Mahrez funding their summer spending.

What seems clear is that he has now played his last game in the colours of Leicester, the club he won he English title with in 2015-16.

Mahrez was close to joining City on Deadline Day in January, but Leicester asked for £80 million (R1.36 billion) at the time, and City pulled out of the deal. The midfielder went on to submit a transfer request in a bid to force through a move, but that only earned him temporary banishment from the team.

A return of 13 goals in 41 appearances last season shows he has still been key to the Foxes however he has had his head turned by Man City and is now joining Pep Guardiola's side.

Previously, NAIJ.com reported that Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has renewed his interest in signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City this summer.

The Citizens are said to have had a £60m offer accepted for the Algerian winger, who they were keen to bring in during the January transfer window.
