Jose Mourinho heaps praise on former Manchester United target Ivan Perisic

Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff, including Michael Carrick, spent the day at Carrington on Tuesday before the players who have not been involved at the World Cup reported on Wednesday.

It means that Croatia will be meeting France in the final on Sunday (4 pm).

And of course, in the second semi-final between England and Croatia has a few United players in action as well.

Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling and Antonio Valencia were some of the first-team stars that arrived early on Thursday morning as Jose Mourinho prepares his squad for their first game against AC Milan on July 26.

"If I was in charge of the FA there would be no doubt that I would keep Gareth Southgate and Steve Holland in their jobs and give them the chance to take the team to the next Euros and the next World Cup".

Mourinho has hailed the United target, Mandzukic after Croatia's 2-1 win against England, claiming the striker proved his worth when it mattered.

However, Spurs are resigned to losing the 29-year-old this summer given a clause in his contract allows him to leave for just £25m in 12 months' time.

Mourinho has already signed goalkeeper Lee Grant, right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred so far this summer but the United boss knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if they're to challenge for the title next season after finishing 19 points adrift of Manchester City previous year.
