Emmys 2018 Nomination Snubs - Who Was Left Off List

Netflix is the most nominated network, with 112 - breaking a 17-year streak at the top for HBO.

For the first time since 2001, HBO did not lead the nominations.

The actresses who squeezed Kidman and Watts out of the supporting actress in a limited series category were: Adina Porter (American Horror Story: Cult); Penelope Cruz and Judith Light (The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story); Letitia Wright (Black Museum); Merritt Wever (Godless); and Sara Bareilles (Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert). It is also his first Emmy nomination for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 25 years.

Sterling K. Brown, who won lead actor in a drama series past year for the show, is nominated again; he'll compete against Jeffrey Wright ("Westworld"). Its nods included best drama, the category it won in 2015 and 2016.

Second round voting takes place in August while the ceremony itself will be beamed live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 17 on NBC - hosted by "Saturday Night Live" duo Colin Jost and Michael Che. Rachel Brosnahan, its non-Jewish star, was nominated for best lead actress in a comedy series for her performance as the Jewish housewife-turned-comedian Midge Maisel. Or maybe it's just that we're never going to be happy in this era of "peak TV".

It was a deep year of nominations for minority performers, who accounted for over one-third of Thursday's acting nominees.

All three Lannister siblings were also recognized, with Lena Headey earning her fourth Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Cersei while her on-screen brothers Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) picked up Best Supporting Actor nods.

The fantasy dragons-and-swords saga, which already has 38 Emmys under its belt, is not expected back on screens until next year. "Everybody from the composer to the makeup people to everyone, so it's such a team effort".

Other drama series contenders are "Westworld", with an impressive 21 nods; "The Americans", nominated for its final season and with nods for stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys; "The Crown", "Stranger Things" and "This Is Us" from NBC, the only broadcast show to make the cut.
