According to the Miami Herald, Crenshaw is a popular fixture in South Beach, where he is known for painting canvas using his feet on the Lincoln Road Mall.

An arrest report says Crenshaw told police he was lying down when 22-year-old Cesar Coronado punched him in the head.

Coronado was found bleeding from his left arm; Crenshaw was arrested the following day and he told an officer that the stabbing happened in self-defence, the Herald reported.

A homeless man with no arms has been charged with stabbing a tourist in Florida.

Officers arrested Crenshaw and charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Coronado, 22, was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, police said.

According to a Reuters report, he was subsequently detained near the attack site in a shopping and tourist area around the South Beach and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a second-degree felony.

Coronado was visiting the area with his friend from Chicago.

The friend said they approached Crenshaw near the intersection of Collins Avenue and 16th Street and asked for directions, when he suddenly jumped up and stabbed Coronado in his arm. He's now being held on a $7,500 bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Crenshaw has a court date on July 18; his bond has been set at $7,500.
