Mourinho reveals why Perisic is 'different' from other wingers

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho heaps praise on one-time target Ivan Perisic following his performance for Croatia in the World Cup semi-final against England.

Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic was in fantastic form for Croatia in their 2-1 win over England in their semi-final clash on Wednesday, during which he scored a goal and provided the assist for the extra-time victor.

Mourinho lamented England's inability to grab a second goal and says Perisic's goal gave Croatia "an overdose of confidence". "Normally you judge wide players on their pace and creativity, but he's physical too - exceptionally physical - and in the air he's fantastic".

"So the way he wins that ball in the air [for Mandzukic's goal] and puts the ball into that space is only possible if you are very, very physical and dominant over defenders".

"So he was incredible by going there and winning that ball in the air".

The Inter Milan star was heavily linked with a switch to United last summer before Mourinho turned his interest elsewhere.

As new players come in, older players have to move out, and it's easy to identify a few Manchester United footballers who should probably be thinking of moving on.

It appears Mourinho could get his wish as TeamTalk are now citing a report from Don Balon that claims United have moved quickly to agree terms over a £70.6m deal with Madrid to sign the German global.

Manchester United will resist the urge to send Victor Lindelof out on loan after the Swede's incredible performances during the World Cup. It's a young team, the majority of the players will play in the next World Cup with more experience at club level.

Diogo Dalot, a £19 million summer signing from Porto, will also be in the group.
