NBA Free Agent Rumors: Isaiah Thomas Agrees To Contract With Nuggets

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas has signed a one-year $2.3 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

After missing those the first 36 games of last season, Thomas returned to average 14.7 points and 4.5 assists in 15 games (14 starts).

As recently as a year ago, Thomas appeared ticketed for a huge payday this summer after starring for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-2017 season and subsequent Eastern Conference playoffs, leading them to the East finals despite dealing with the death of his sister and a hip injury.

Prior to the unusual campaign Thomas put together past year in which he started in only 15 of the 32 games he played, he appeared set for a big payday in the summer of 2018.

According to Wojnarowski, Thomas recently got together with Nuggets coach Michael Malone and president of basketball operations Tim Connelly in Las Vegas to discuss his potential place in the club's plans.

Thomas also struggled in Los Angeles, and eventually had surgery to fix the hip issue. He was traded to Cleveland last summer along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and a pair of picks for Kyrie Irving.

No player tanked their value as a free agent more over the previous year than Isaiah Thomas.

If Thomas can get himself in the race for Sixth Man of the Year, his value can surely rise by next offseason - but he will be competing with a myriad of other players who've chosen this same route.
