Why NZ Football are still winners at the 2018 Fifa World Cup

England fans are the subject of a Federation Internationale de Football Association investigation after claims were made that "possibly discriminatory" chants were sung during the Three Lions' World Cup semi final loss to Croatia. Croatia's fans react after a goal as they watch the broadcast of the World Cup semi-final match between Croatia and England in the fan zone.

On Thursday Croatia eliminated England 2-1 in their semi-final - dashing fans' hopes of a match with their rivals from across the English Channel.

England suffered semifinal heartbreak at the hands of Croatia, as goals from Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic overturned Kieran Trippier's opener at Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday.

Croatian players celebrated wildly in the Russian capital while in the Croatian capital Zagreb, tens of thousands of fans poured onto the streets and squares, singing, letting off flares and waving red-white-and-blue flags.

France will have 24 hours longer to prepare for the game after edging out Belgium 1-0 in 90 minutes in St Petersburg on Tuesday.

But with 90 minutes left of the campaign, squad players, who Southgate accepts have been patient for their chance, are pushing to be involved from the start. The sound was eclipsed only by the joy that greeted Mario Mandzukic's extra-time victor and the impromptu fireworks celebration in the wake of the final whistle. This shows character and is what makes me proud.

"Any time I get an opportunity to play for England, I want to do that".

"This is fantastic", Dalic said.

"It's too easy to sometimes move on too quickly".

"To become a winning team there are hurdles you have to overcame - and we've surpassed many of them".

However, fans said the side had "finished further than anyone dreamed".

France reached their third World Cup final with a victory over Belgium, setting up the meeting between the two sides in Moscow. You've had an incredible #WorldCup, made history, and gave us fans something to believe in.
