Dave Bautista rips Disney for firing ‘Guardians 3’ writer James Gunn

Kurt Russell, who played the villain Ego in last year's sequel, also broke his silence and told Variety, "we're getting a little too sensitive on maybe some of the wrong people". Though a petition signed by thousands was formed to rehire the director and numerous celebrities, including the "Guardians" cast, spoke out against the exit, Disney has no plans to bring Gunn back on board the franchise.

Bautista, who plays Drax The Destroyer, has said that he'll honour his contractual obligations, but in an excoriating tweet he ensured that his employers know how unhappy he is about it.

Wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista put a verbal smackdown on Disney over the firing of writer-director James Gunn.

Bautista joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, the first two of which went down a storm with fans - and the third of which is due in the near future.

"I will do what Im legally obligated to do but [Guardians of the Galaxy] without [James Gunn] is not what I signed up for".

Bautista directs some ire towards Disney, who made the decision to fire Gunn after a number of his offensive tweets were resurfaced by conservative outlet The Daily Caller.

The entire main cast of the "Guardians" movies released an open letter in support of Gunn last week, and numerous actors called for him to be reinstated.

Kurt Russell, who played the villain Ego in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" previous year, also broke his silence recently.

"It's sad. But it's a part of our fabric now, and I get it", Russell said during an Emmy celebration event. "It's also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis", Bautista wrote.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor concluded, "He has a wonderful heart and a wonderful mind".
