Deputies looking for armed teen who held up boy's lemonade stand

Smith said a teenager walked up to his son's lemonade stand, pointed a pistol into his son's stomach, and demanded money.

Smith said his son has been selling lemonade in the neighborhood nearly every weekend to help pay for a new lawnmower.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, they are pursuing leads in connection with a robbery that happened near the entrance to St. John's Forest in Monroe around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies said the boy described the suspect, who is still at large, as a male teen wearing a camouflage hat and a black shirt. The child mows the neighbor's yards to make money. The suspect got away with a little less than $20 that the boy was saving to buy a lawnmower. "In today's world, people are very bold", he said.

Deputies say they located a trail in the woods where a camo hat, a black colored BB handgun and stolen metal tin were recovered.

"That one takes it to a new level".

After hearing the news, Huyck said she wanted to do something to let the boy know not everyone is a bad person and show him the neighborhood cares.

"It's not going to stop us", Smith said. Sunday afternoon, the whole family was back outside selling lemonade again.
