Fetus found on board American Airlines plane after flight from Charlotte

Sources said American Airlines flight 1942 arrived to Terminal B from Charlotte, N.C. Monday at 10:44 p.m.

Part of that cooperation is turning over video recordings from the plane to determine who might have been in the restroom before passengers left Monday night, the airline source told the Observer.

Staff made the discovery on Tuesday and immediately called for help. It was the Airbus A321's only flight of the day.

Aja Worthy-Davis, a spokesperson for New York City's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told USA TODAY the department is "investigating what we believe to be a human fetus found deceased on an airplane". The plane was later moved to an American Airlines hangar. American Airlines said it was assisting police with their investigation.

American Airlines referred all questions to law enforcement, telling NBC New York, "We have no major impact to our operation this morning while we are working with law enforcement on an investigation".

Just before 9 a.m., the airport tweeted about possible delays over the incident.
