Blues close to signing Brazil worldwide Bernard on free transfer

Everton close to signing a contract with the former midfielder "Shakhtar" Bernard.

But the move will not go ahead unless the club can offload the likes of Carlos Bacca and Nikola Kalinic, who are surplus to requirements at San Siro.

Everton have agreed a deal for Bernard, the winger who was a free agent after he left Shakhtar Donetsk last season.

The Blues are understood to have told the winger he must respond to their offer by tomorrow, or else it will be withdrawn.

Bernard burst onto the global scene in the 2014 World Cup although the main reason his worldwide side will be remembered that year will be the 7-1 humiliation at the hands of eventual winners, Germany. According to the Daily Mail, however, that Everton manager Marco Silva has played a key role in the last 24 hours, in persuading Brazilian to join him at Goodison Park and he expected to undergo a medical on Merseyside on Tuesday.

Bernard is said to be excited to reignite his career in the Premier League, and Everton fought of competition from West Ham and Chelsea, if stories are to be believed. Bernard missed 2018 FFA World Cup in Russian Federation, having suffered a shoulder injury at the end of last season and he would become the Toffees third signing of the summer.
