Million Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Pro Revealed

Celebrating over 500 million PlayStation system sales.

The units will be serialized with a copper plaque on it, though it's hard to think of 50,000 units as a "limited" run.

Sony has today announced that 500 million PlayStations have been sold worldwide and to celebrate, they're doing something special.

When turned on, the blue light on the front of the console will illuminate the system's innards, while a copper plate will commemorate the manufacturing number of the console.

The 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro sports a gorgeous translucent shell giving it a cool blue tint.

"Extra Special" serial numbers like 09995, which is the U.S. launch date of the original PS, will be available. The console will be on sale from August 24 and will cost $500. Examples include 09995 (Sept. 9th, 1995, US PlayStation launch), 01115 (Nov. 15, 2013, US PS4 launch) and 01013 (Oct. 13, 2016, US PS VR launch). The PS4 500 Million Limited Edition DualShock 4 controller release date is August 24 and the headset release date is October 11. The 500 Million Limited Edition DualShock 4 will be $64.99 USD/$74.99 CAD/€64, while the Gold Wireless Headset will be $99.99 USD/$119.99 CAD/€89.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has introduced yet another special variant of its PlayStation 4 Pro but this particular model is rather different from any other limited edition release that the company has produced before.

The limited edition DualShock and Gold Wireless Headset will be available in select quantities at North American retail in September.
