Liverpool concluded an impressive pre-season by cruising to a 3-1 win over Torino on Tuesday.

Liverpool fans have given troubled goalkeeper Loris Karius a rousing reception on his return to Anfield following his calamitous display in the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final.

City are clearly the team to beat in this year's title race, but Liverpool appear to be in pole position to give them their most potent challenge and while I enjoyed the World Cup this summer, the Premier League is back and I can't wait to get see this show on the road once again.

Jurgen Klopp's side have only been beaten once in their nine friendlies this summer and kick off their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham United on Sunday.

To move forward and onto bigger and better things Jurgen Klopp needed to get rid of some of the dead weight in his side and, unfortunately for Ings, he is one of them.

Fabinho, who had scored 16 in a row from the spot for AS Monaco, sent the penalty several yards wide.

"So at this moment, on paper, Liverpool do look the strongest challengers".

Three minutes later the hosts doubled their lead when Wijnaldum capped off a wonderful move by slipping Salah's well-timed through-ball underneath goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

Torino grabbed one back on the half-hour mark when Belotti nodded in from close range, leaving goalkeeper Alisson with no chance.

Shaqiri and Sturridge were the two Liverpool replacements to stand out and they combined for their third goal on 87 minutes, with the former Stoke City winger dinking a subtle cross over the Italian defence which Sturridge glanced inside the post.

Liverpool have looked impressive during their preparations for the new season, which they will begin by welcoming West Ham to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
