Magic Leap One AR Headset Finally Arrives-But Not for Everyone

Magic Leap founder Rony Abovitz broke his self-proclaimed radio silence Tuesday night to tweet pictures of a launching rocketship, a Magic Leaper and link to a device with the model number 808, leading some to believe that the Magic Leap One Creator Edition will either launch Wednesday - Aug. 8 - or plans for the launch will be detailed Wednesday. The company has raised more than $2.3 billion since being founded in 2011 and after its last round received a valuation of more than $6 billion. The Google-backed company is giving the Lightwear headset alongside the Lightpack computing pack and Control handheld input device to developers ordering the glasses.

Magic Leap has finally launched much awaited and long talked augmented reality product "Magic Leap One Creator Edition" for the developer, creator or explorer.

Magic Leap has officially launched the Magic Leap One Creator Edition, a wearable computing device for creating immersive experiences.

After more than a year of working together, furniture e-tailer Wayfair and Magic Leap, a startup technology company, have unveiled their partnership with the launch of Wayfair's MR experience. That said, Magic Leap has plenty of capital behind it, and in July AT&T signed up to be the exclusive retailer of the headset. There is Tónandi, a collaboration between Sigur Rós and Magic Leap Studios, and provides an "interactive audio-visual exploration of the sounds and spirit of the band".

For gamers, Dr. Grordbort's Invaders is coming soon to the Magic One.

The Magic Leap One is a futuristic augmented reality headset aimed at streamlining the way people interact with computers.

Still, the Magic Leap One Creator Edition does have a deep ecosystem, and the company has controlled almost every aspect of the experience, which could lend itself to a more polished product. "Let's focus on Magic Leap One Creator Edition". There, developers can access software development kits for Unity and Unreal Engine 4 support, find code resources, tutorials and forums for connecting with other creators. At a price tag of $2,295, it will be of interest chiefly to cutting-edge adopters and developers.

As for everyone else, Magic Leap One is shipping today. "As we continue to integrate new forms of storytelling, like mixed reality, into our news report, we are able to bring Times journalism to readers in a way that makes it more immediate than ever before".
