The Samsung Galaxy Watch Is Definitely Happening

Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 in NY, banking on the larger-screen device to rejuvenate sales of a struggling flagship line and fend off Apple Inc.'s upcoming iPhones over the holidays.

Samsung's also promising that the Note 9 is created to make sure it lasts. This year, Samsung is making a big leap with the inclusion of a Bluetooth radio inside the pen. The only real sacrifice is in your wallet since it costs around $1,000.

The speaker will be powered by Bixby, Samsung's rival to Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa, allowing it to take voice commands to play music, answer questions and even act as a multi-room audio system. Two of the most important new features to consider are LTE access and battery life. The Note 8 sported dual rear cameras and the biggest screen to date on a Samsung smartphone.

DeX is also on the cards, but instead of needing a separate dock the Note 9 can offer the DeX experience right out of the box. This does make the Note 9 more unwieldy than smaller phones, but the tradeoff may be worth it for some users. Pre-orders start August 10 in stores and online.

In order to provide more information on the new device, Samsung hosted a massive launch event in New York City on Thursday, August 9 with a number of high-profile personalities in attendance. The new, Bixby-powered smart speaker was revealed on Thursday 9 August in NY alongside the the hotly anticipated Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy Watch. The Note 9 performed well in the multi-core test.

T-Mobile will sell the 128GB Galaxy Note 9 model at the full retail price of $999.99 with $279.99 down and payments of $30 a month.

Samsung also said the popular shooter game "Fortnite" is coming to Android and will be exclusive to Samsung phones until Sunday.

Its S Pen stylus is Bluetooth-enabled and created to act as a remote for controlling YouTube video playback.

Samsung Galaxy Home design: What does it look like? Spotify shares rose almost 5 percent to $186.96 after the announcement. Samsung has let on that, as far as functionality goes, the Galaxy Home will be able to do numerous same things Bixby does on smartphones.

Corning, today announced that Samsung's newly introduced Galaxy Watch would come with its new glass composite called Corning Gorilla Glass DX+, which is highly scratch-resistant and anti-reflective. Profit in the mobile division fell by a third in the April-June quarter.

That's the issue - smartphones are now so capable that there's not really that much further to go, so unless a brand materially changes the design and ways of using the phone (as Apple did with the iPhone X) then there's not much to really excite consumers.
