Punjab Confirms Navjot Singh Sidhu's Invite For Imran Khan's Swearing

"But, the kind of speech Mr. Imran Khan has given is very nice and I wish him all the best and with folded hands, I appeal, that we have a handsome relationship". "We hope that Pakistan would work for a safe, secure, stable and prosperous region, free from terror and violence", the prime minister said. "I really hope and appeal that we have a really handsome relationship henceforth".

Pakistan had welcomed Prime Modi's congratulatory phone call to PTI chief Imran Khan and said it wanted resumption of bilateral talks which were halted in 2015. We have also taken various initiatives in this regard.

Modi had met the then Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif several times and also visited Pakistan in a surprise stopover on his way back from an official trip to Russian Federation in December 2015.

"The chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan, who is going to be sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has sent invitation to former cricketer and Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu to his swearing-in ceremony".

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission of Pakistan accepted the unconditional written apology from Khan for violating the secrecy of the ballot, removing the last possible hurdle in his swearing-in.

During the brief conversation, Khan thanked Sidhu for praising him.
