'Then I hung up': Thomas Markle's heated row with Prince Harry

'Then I hung up': Thomas Markle's heated row with Prince Harry

A US source close to the couple revealed to The Sun that, "Meghan loves Thomas and does want to maintain a relationship with him in the long run".

The 61-year-old, who is close with the Duchess of Sussex, attended the couple's wedding in May and appeared at ease with members of the royal family.

Prince Harry is said to have told his future father-in-law: "If you had listened to me this would never have happened".

Mr Markle was embroiled in a shocking scandal that saw him fake a number of photos with the paparazzi for the eye-watering sum of £100,000, which resulted in him pulling out of the May 19 royal wedding, claims he suffered a heart attack and the estrangement from his daughter, 37.

As a result of this conversation, Meghan, 36, decided her father needed "a bit of space" - and that she wanted to take some "time out" herself. He said, 'They will eat you alive.' He was right. I told her they wouldn't be able to come because they would never be able to afford the flight but that it would be a nice gesture on her part.

He admitted that Harry had been "absolutely right" to admonish him over his behaviour.

He then replied: "Maybe it would be better for you guys if I was dead. then you could pretend to be sad".

Mr Markle said the royal had warned him about the dangers of colluding with the media.

Thomas Markle lied to Prince Harry and later hung up on him after being confronted about staging paparazzi photos.

"Then I hung up", he said.

Before Prince Harry and former Suits actress Meghan announced their engagement, Thomas Markle lived as a recluse in Rosarito, Mexico.

The former lighting director, 74, claims the couple "disrespected" him, with Harry telling him ignoring their advice not to talk to the paparazzi had landed him in a hard position. "That hurt", he said.

Thomas says Meghan and Harry knocked back his request to make a speech. "What riles me is Meghan's sense of superiority". I love them. I wish them well.

He added: "But as for the rest of it, f*** it".

Kensington Palace declined to comment last night.
