Kevin De Bruyne suffers a major injury in training

Premier League champions Manchester City have been hit with a blow on Wednesday afternoon, August 15, after star player Kevin De Bruyne suffered an injury in training.

"The extent of the problem is not yet known and we will bring you further updates on Kevin's condition in due course".

De Bruyne was once again expected to see his stock rise this term as City look to secure back-to-back league titles for the first time in the club's history.

The Belgium worldwide enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season, scoring eight goals and setting up another 16 as City romped to Premier League success.

The Daily Telegraph said he had suffered knee ligament damage similar to the injury he sustained in a league game with Everton in January 2016 and which kept him out of the team for two months.

A club statement said the full extent of the injury is not yet known but the Belgium worldwide was undergoing tests.

However, Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has suggested that there are fears the midfielder could miss two months of the new Premier League season.

He also has Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan, who were both brilliant in the 2-0 win over Arsenal on the weekend.
