OnePlus 6T packaging ‘leaks,’ but are we looking at the real thing?

OnePlus 6T's retail box has been spotted via leaked images on Chinese social media platform Weibo. One of the sides says 'OnePlus 6T, ' while the other says 'Unlock the Speed.' I'm not sure why manufacturers are creating cheesy slogans for their phones now; first the Galaxy Note9's 'The new super powerful Note, ' and now this?

Beyond the fingerprint sensor, the images would suggest that we can expect a new notch this time around, with the OnePlus 6 notch being replaced with something more resembling a waterdrop of sorts.

The lid also seems to feature the phone design, showing a waterdrop notch and in-display fingerprint scanner. This image shows that the notch present on the OnePlus 6 has been reduced in size for the OnePlus 6T, and it has also been made more tear-shaped. Similar to the current crop of Vivo smartphones, the 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Would you be interested in the OnePlus 6T if it looked like this leak suggests?

Also, the sides of the retail box show the words "OnePlus 6T" and "Unlock the Speed".

It's rumored that the OnePlus 6T will launch in October, so we'll have to wait until then before we get official details on the upcoming device.

For the past few generations, OnePlus's phones have been heavily based on those from sister company OPPO.

If the OnePlus 6T borrows a camera from either of the Oppo R17 phones it's likely to be that triple-lens one, since the standard R17's 16MP/5MP dual-lens snapper would arguably be a downgrade.

When OPPO unveiled the R17 Pro with the teardrop notch, we expected OnePlus to follow suit and that's exactly what they have done. Till now, the company has been using capacitive fingerprint sensors. We even have renders that almost hit all the right marks. If rumors are correct, it could be the first OnePlus to be available from a U.S. carrier.
