Prince William Launched A New Website Meant To Improve Mental Health

The new website comes as a survey finds that 48 percent of United Kingdom employees have experienced mental health problems in their current job.

Following his Heads Together campaign in partnership with the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex, the royal launches his new initiative to change the way United Kingdom employers look at mental health in the workplace.

"As employers, we have a real opportunity to change the way we approach mental health, giving our people the support they need to thrive".

And of these people, only half spoke to their employer about their stress, anxiety or low mood, according to a survey of 44,000 carried out by the mental health charity Mind.

Last year a report that followed an independent review commissioned by Theresa May revealed 333,000 people lose their job every year due to a mental health problems, costing the economy between £72billion and £99billion. Furthermore poor mental health at work costs the United Kingdom economy between £72bn and £99bn.

Mental Health at Work is one of the initiatives being driven by William as part of his ongoing work with Heads Together.

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, was set to unveil the project, Mental Health at Work, at an event in Bristol on Tuesday. It also discovered that of the 50% who are suffering from mental health challenges, only 50% have mentioned the problems to their employers. Those staff who felt their manager supported their mental health or could spot the signs that someone might be struggling were far more likely to say they would be able to talk about their mental health at work. The UK-wide portal is a free resource for both employers and employees. Earlier this year, speaking up on the same issue, the 36-year-old emphasised that starting a conversation on mental health can make all the difference.

The Mental Health at Work initiative is available online which it is hoped will benefit small to medium companies who struggle to find the help.
