Adams leads U.S. past 10-man Mexico

United States of America won 1-0 courtesy of a 71st minute Tyler Adams goal in Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee but, although his team won the game on the night, Miazga was surely left feeling a foot shorter. "Not flawless but he's shown that he's emerging as someone that other players can look up to".

Chelsea ace Matt Miazga mocked Mexican winger Diego Lainez for his height during USA's 1-0 win against Mexico on Tuesday night.

Adams' tally, a 71st-minute strike that was teed up by Antonee Robinson, was the lone goal in a testy friendly at Nissan Stadium; El Tri finished the contest with 10 men after Angel Zaldivar was shown a red card for a brutal tackle on Wil Trapp in the 66th minute.

Chelsea defender Miazga, who is now on loan at Nantes, looked to embarrass the 5ft 6in 18-year-old Mexican. "And I do think our guys showed great composure".

United States forward Gyasi Zardes had headed over from Weston McKennie's cross early in the first half but Mexico were in control for long periods afterwards.

The Americans took advantage four minutes later.

The win was a welcome one for the home side, who lost last week's friendly against Brazil, but another disappointment for Mexico as they have now lost three games in a row. This was a display which would have encouraged them immensely.
