Jaguars' Leonard Fournette to miss practice Thursday

Jaguars' Leonard Fournette to miss practice Thursday

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone told reporters the injury was "minor" and Fournette is day-to-day, though the team isn't looking to hurry the rusher back too soon.

Marrone would be fine with Fournette playing Sunday against the New England Patriots even if he is unable to practice this week.

Fournette did not practice for the second consecutive day but said he started running on Thursday. "I think everyone, whenever you play some of the best teams, you want to see where you're measured up to, and that defense has been ranked very high all a year ago", Brady said. "It's their call about the speed and the tempo of what they want me to do". "Stayed out because "they were being cautious" he said", she tweeted.

The Jaguars are slated to host the Patriots in a rematch of last season's AFC championship game at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.

"They've got an incredible rush, great linebackers, great secondary", Brady said. "So it's going to be a great environment for football".

Fournette was asked about balancing the desire to play with being smart about the injury early in a 16-game season.

The 41-year-old Brady has of course played in countless big games, but there was a tinge of excitement to his voice when noting that this week's game will be seen by a large portion of the country.

Fournette said he sustained the injury on a second-quarter swing pass, and he said he believes the injury occurred shortly before he was contacted by a Giants defender on the play.

Fournette said he had a more severe hamstring issue while running track in high school.
