The Predator director Shane Black takes 'full responsibility' for painful, controversial casting

In an interview with the Associated Press, Black said, "I made an error in judgment that's irresponsible-I'm not just a kid ..."

Black admits that his mistake caused "pain to people in the cast" and did not make excuses. "She took a stance for me", Carnes said. It's my fault. I made a decision, which was a very bad - look, it's not about the fact that I was as shocked to discover what's going on at reading these awful things in the paper. As a longtime friend of "The Predator" director Shane Black, Striegel had been given roles in several of Black's films including "Iron Man 3" and "The Nice Guys". Ironically, all attempts by Black and the studio to gloss over the scandal has only fueled its fire.

After she intervened, distributor 20th Century Fox had the sex offender's single scene in the film - which happened to be with Munn - removed, and that appeared to be that. Wouldn't facing the issue head on, in a straightforward and contrite manner, have had a better outcome for all involved?

In response to questions regarding a more structured hiring system to prevent such things, Munn specifies that the industry's top executives can not be relied on to make changes as "they are the people who created this disparity in the first place".

The 24-year-old woman was previously only identified as Jane Doe in the court proceedings for the criminal case against Steven Wilder Striegel, a friend of filmmaker Shane Black, who directed "The Predator" and cast the sex offender.

For "The Predator", Striegel had a three-page scene alongside Olivia Munn, playing a jogger who hits on her repeatedly. She spoke up for me. She took a stance for me. Munn said they were the same colleagues who never bothered to reach out after learning she had spoken up. "To be acknowledged by a stranger, on a public platform about this issue is incredibly empowering".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black apologized for casting Striegel in a statement: "I apologize to all of those, past and present, I've let down by having Steve around them without giving them a voice in the decision". "If the fans and public keep expressing that they won't go support people who are abusers or organizations or companies that support that, then that will make them change".

"My goal in making this statement is to reclaim my identity", Carnes begins. In a statement, Carnes said she wanted to come forward publicly to reclaim her identity. This discomfort is nothing compared to the psychological and physical suffering of those who have dealt with it. The consequences of this abuse are profound and permanent for some. "You lose trust in everyone around you, and mainly yourself", Carnes continued. "With support from others and strength from within, you can overcome the label of victim and reclaim your identity".

Support can come in many forms. "The positive feedback from social media towards Olivia Munn is uplifting and feels incredibly supportive for me personally". I am extremely fortunate to have a Father and Mother that love me unconditionally. In turn she stood for all who have suffered like I have.
