Twitter reactions as Jose Mourinho defends himself on Marcus Rashford stance

The 20-year-old scored twice in two games for England during the worldwide break, and many fans and members of the media are wondering why he isn't getting more game time for his club.

A defeat for United would have seen them suffer three losses in their opening five Premier League games for the first time, but they picked up where they left off against Burnley prior to the worldwide break, professionally dealing with an in-form Watford side.

Marcus Rashford got the chance to play all 180 minutes of England's two recent internationals in the worldwide break, against Spain and Switzerland, after Raheem Sterling dropped out through injury.

That goal came after Rashford scored the opener in England's 2-1 loss to Spain in a UEFA Nations League game on Saturday.

Mourinho gave a detailed explanation about Rashford's playing time under him ranging from matches, minutes and competitions during the two-year period.

Fans have since taken to Twitter to comment on the issue.

"On the season 16-17, Marcus Rashford played 32 Premier League matches, 11 Europa League matches, including the final, three FA Cup matches, six League Cup matches, including the final, and the Community Shields".

Jose Mourinho responded by throwing on Anthony Martial for Jesse Lingard for the final 15 minutes as the visitors looked to restore their two-goal cushion.

Lukaku struck 18 Premier League goals in his first United season after signing from Everton, while he helped Belgium to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup with four goals at Russian Federation 2018.

Marcus Rashford has made 29 Premier League appearances this season, 15 coming from the bench.

"The only situation we have to analyse is if you are going to play him when during the week he was not training with the team".

Lukaku's point-blank finish with his midriff opened the scoring in the 35th minute and three minutes later Smalling had the Red Devils roaring. "Since I was here, he was never one day out of selection because of my decision, only if injured or he knows and that's the most important thing", he added.

"The reason I score more and more goals, season after season, is I know my mistakes from the past, I know my strengths and I work on my strengths, but the little points I want to get better and it's constant".

This makes me so happy.

Bit weird seeing Mourinho go all Benitez today with his stats and facts.
