Ex-finance minister has travelled out of the country

Daily Trust reports that the Finance Minister resigned over allegations that she forged her National Youth Service Corps certificate.

Adeosun who was schooled and graduated overseas at 22, did not return to Nigeria until she was 34 and did not serve the mandatory one year.

Adeosun, 51, said she was quitting to protect the integrity of the government.

"The PDP is also aware of plots by the Federal Government to secretly move her out of the country, and for that, we urge the global community to be at alert and ensure she is repatriated to face justice in Nigeria should the Federal Government succeeds in its devious plan". Many have taken to social media to ask that she be prosecuted by the appropriate authorities according to the rule of law.

The former minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun has departed the shores of Nigeria. Her main policy was a bid to improve tax collection and crack down on mismanagement by government agencies.

Buhari also approved that the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, should oversee the ministry immediately.

Under the scheme introduced in the early 1970s to promote unity among Nigeria's multi-ethnic groups following a 30-month brutal civil war, graduates younger than 30 are expected to serve the nation for one year.

Corp members are posted to states outside their state of origin to encourage national unity.
