Matthew Perry has been hospitalized for 3 months

In fact, Perry underwent gastrointestinal surgery after suffering a perforated bowel, a condition which can be life-threatening, and surgery for which can be followed by various complications.

He was soon inundated with messages, with one user responding: "Take care and get well soon x".

News of Perry's recent health concern broke last month when a rep for the actor told People that he "recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to fix a gastrointestinal perforation".

One user wrote: "We love you". Glad you've made a decision to update us", and: "I am so glad to see your tweet!

Matthew Perry could use some friends right now. Seriously, though, I have been looking for news about you for a while and haven't seen anything.

It comes a month after his spokeswoman confirmed that the 49-year-old was in hospital recovering from surgery, saying "he is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals". I wish you a speedy recovery.

Gastrointestinal perforation can occur along any point in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract, including the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.

Symptoms include severe abdominal pain.

Perry has often been candid about his struggles with his health, including his addiction to alcohol and painkiller Vicodin that began after his jet ski accident in 1997.

In 2013, he told People, "I couldn't stop. Getting sober is a really hard thing to do", he explained.

While at the peak of his Friends fame in the late 1990s, he completed a course of rehab for addiction to painkillers.

After finally becoming available on Netflix in January, fans have rewatched the series and it has gained even more popularity.
