Active Shooter Reported Near Madison, Wisconsin

The incident took place at Esker Software on September 19 with reports about the attack coming at around 10:30 a.m. local time, reports the Wisconsin State Journal.

Police are responding to a possible active shooter outside of Madison, Wisconsin on Wednesday morning.

The Middleton police department sent out an alert stating: "ACTIVE SHOOTER: 1800 Deming Way Officers and emergency personnel are on the scene on an active shooter in the 1800 block of Deming Way in the City of Middleton". She provided no additional information. She said it was 'a devastating loss'.

"I'm not looking back, I'm running as fast as I can".

Witnesses said a man had walked into a software company and opened fire, injuring multiple people.

"We knew at that point that something was going down". Others remained huddled in a cafeteria for more than an hour.

Jeff Greene, who also works at Esker, said police told those gathered in the cafeteria to go a nearby hotel to make a statement about what they saw.

The Greenway Station shopping center next door to the office building is on lockdown.
