Tiger Woods reveals what Rory McIlroy said to him on 18th hole

While many had doubted if Woods would ever be competitive again, he sent a convincing message that he is indeed back.

"Tiger Woods' win at the Tour Championship was an unforgettable event in golf, the massive gallery following Tiger up the 18th fairway was matched by record viewership across NBC Sports platforms", Mike McCarley, president of golf for NBC Sports, said in a statement. Today, we've gotten a big reminder.

Thomas Bjørn says his Europe Ryder Cup team will adopt a no-fear approach to facing a resurgent Tiger Woods at Le Golf National this weekend and has urged his players to focus on the US team as a whole rather than pinpointing the 14-times major champion.

"It's incredible, it really is", Woods told reporters.

"What's important to him right now, what's special for him, is to be a part of that team, to be a part of that group, and as Thomas talked about, it's a 12-on-12 type of atmosphere". TV ratings for the final round have been released and they are staggering.

But this much is certain: Woods' win will help Woods, who's finally liberated after playing so well for so much of this comeback year without tasting the nectar of victory until Sunday.

NBC's coverage of the Tour Championship earned a 5.2 overnight rating.

The Tiger Effect roared its menacing head for NBC during its final-round telecast of the Tour Championship Sunday.

Eventual runner-up Billy Horschel recorded a stunning final round to put some pressure on Woods in the closing stages, but eventually just came up short. As the early favorite to win the 2019 Masters, Woods may already be headed in that direction.

Bjørn was, however, full of praise for Woods's latest and 80th PGA Tour triumph achieved after four back surgeries. The Ryder Cup, taking place in France, will be televised Friday-Sunday morning.
