Serie A: Ronaldo on target again as Juve maintain ideal start

The lawyer for Kathryn Mayorga, who claims she was raped by Cristiano Ronaldo in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009, says he has been contacted by a second woman claiming to have been sexual assaulted by the football star.

Ronaldo has denied all accusations, and his lawyers have threatened legal action against Der Spiegel for publishing Mayorga's claims.

Juve cruised to a seventh straight league win to open up a nine-point gap between themselves and closest rivals Napoli, who play Sassuolo at home on Sunday.

Ronaldo, who on Wednesday "firmly denied" rape allegations dating back to 2009, effectively put the game beyond Udinese just before half-time and it was plain-sailing from there for Massimiliano Allegri's men.

"I can only talk about what I see", he told a news conference.

Juventus later posted a video on YouTube and Twitter showing Ronaldo training, with the caption: "Juventus go for goal".

In his pre-match press conference Friday, Allegri said Ronaldo seemed "calm".

The Italian sports press predicted on Saturday that the match against Udinese, lying 14th in Serie A, could be the most hard of the season for Juventus, who are looking for a tenth straight win in all competitions.

"Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in".

However, there have been off-field consequences to the controversy.

Nike, Ronaldo's lifetime sponsor, said it was "deeply concerned" by the allegations and that they would continue to closely monitor the situation as it unfolded. On September 20, shares rose 180% to a record level of over €1.80.

"If he had stayed at Real Madrid nobody would have said a thing", Juventus supporter Stefano Pianeta said outside the stadium, referring to Ronaldo's recent transfer from Madrid.

However, the Italian club's reaction to the issue has angered some fans as "dismissive" and "insensitive". The lads know what we are working on, at times we have been a little complacent after taking the lead, but we didn't do that today.

Earlier, Ronaldo's mother, Maria Dolores Aveiro, sent her son a message on Instagram: 'Good luck son and for your team because together we are stronger'.
