Batwoman Rises in Our First Look at Ruby Rose as Kate Kane

Batwoman Rises in Our First Look at Ruby Rose as Kate Kane

The costume, seen here, was designed by Oscar winning designer Colleen Atwood, and is pretty much ripped from the page.

The three-night DC crossover event kicks off with The Flash on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by Arrow on Monday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Supergirl on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. Though she will be introduced in the crossover event, Rose will then transition into her own Batwoman series, which is now in development for the 2019-20 television season at The CW.

There may not be a Batman that we've seen in the Arrowverse or on Supergirl's Earth-38 that we've seen in-person just yet, despite the name drops, but that is definitely a Batwoman right there with the Bat-signal shining high in the sky behind her.

The reveal of Kate Kane's new suit coincides with the crossover starting production today in Vancouver.

Ever since the announcement in July that the crossover would feature Batwoman, fan excitement has been mounting around the introduction another female lead (this one who also happens to be lesbian and ginger, two things television needs more of) to Greg Berlanti's Arrowverse. Her appearance also marks an important addition for LGBTQ representation in the Arrowverse as a gay superhero, something Rose is justly proud of. Is this the costume you imagined Kate Kane in?

Whatever world we're in, it's very exciting to get a look at Batwoman as she'll appear onscreen.
